Novicom was founded in 1980. Originally from Bellechasse, Messrs. Michel Laflamme and Gaétan Roy, the two owners, had the idea of starting their own repair business for electronic devices. In its early days, the company located in St-Philémon was called "Center Électronique Côte du Sud (CECS)" and repaired televisions, radios, and more. One day, the opportunity to become an authorized Motorola agent presented itself. As there were very few Motorola dealers at the time and the demand for radiocommunication products and after-sales service for this type of product was growing, steps were taken to become a distributor.

The clientele which, at the time, was concentrated in the neighbouring villages extended to the urban environment and several new clients such as: municipalities, factories, businesses under construction and various others were added.

The management made the decision to move the business to a more central location. Therefore, The Saint-Romuald industrial park became the gateway to the urban world. This move was the springboard to a new path.

In the late 1980s, the owners decided to change the name to Novicom (the New Vision of Communications). During the ten years that followed, the company experienced significant growth, which brought an increase in the number of employees and several moves. It was during this same period that Novicom began manufacturing new products to integrate with existing devices.
